  • MS Doosras won the toss and elected to bat on a hot and dry day for their first match of the season.  Srikant Sundaragopalan and Avinash Upadhyay opened the batting to give a steady start and MS Doosras were 38/0 in 6 overs. Srikant played some brilliant shots over mid-on to keep the pace going, including a six. In the 7th over, MS Dossras got 23 runs of Nipun’s bowling with Anivash hitting 2 sixes over long-on. One which was caught but the fielder ran over the boundary.
  • Avinash got out in the 10th over which ended a good 81 run partnership. Vijay came in next and paced his innings well to build another partnership. Srikant continued his good hitting form and hit 2 more sixes. One which went a long way out of the square leg boundary.
  • Srikant retired in the 16th over with an impressive knock of 62 runs in 45 balls. Vijay got out, caught behind in the next over. Losing 2 set batsmen rapidly, slowed down the innings. MS Doosras lost another wicket in the final overs and ended up with a good competitive total of 159.
  • Vijay Beniwal and Thomas Varghese started the bowling for MS Doosras with some tight bowling. Pacific Sounders openers Abbas and GP were finding it tough to negotiate scoring. Vijay got the first breakthrough in the 3rd over when Abbas tried to drive a ball to covers but ended up dragging the ball on to the stumps. Thomas struck in the next over to get the new batsman Rahul out, caught at first slip by Srikant.
  • 2 more wickets fell in the next 2 overs and Pacific Sounders had their backs to the wall. The run rate started slowing down as the batsmen started playing more cautiously to build a partnership. Vibhu and Naseer were playing well to build a partnership when Vibhu got out LBW on a straighter delivery from Saurabh. Sounders were 46 for 5 in 12 overs at this point.
  • Naseer hit some good shot including a couple of sixes. Parthu and Naseer build a good partnership of 52 runs but the required run rate was too high to come back in the game. Murthy bowled the last over where Naseer got out on a full-toss ball which went high in the air and was caught at point. The next ball, Nipun got out bowled trying to play a ball outside off but dragging it on to the stumps. Murthy was on a hat-trick chance. The next ball was straight on to the stumps but was well defended by the batsman and the hat-trick was avoided. Pacific Sounders ended up with a total of 103 at the loss of 8 wickets.

The rest of the batting went into survival mode, and barely played out 20 overs for a paltry 61. Ilyas held the bottom order together well and hit a couple of big shots. Rajesh Munshi was once again the chief destroyer with 3 wickets, to make it 7 for the weekend.

•             Slashers took the chase easy with an experimental batting order. Omer and Nishant opened, played and missed a few times, and connected mightily a few other times. There was a minor collapse but Slashers were never in danger, and cantered home with 5 wickets and 9 overs to spare.
