Redmond Colts post comfortable victory over Central Warriors
The scene at the start of the second game was almost exactly opposite to the start of the Colts game. There was no rain for starters, but then there was no opposition either and as a result no stumps or boundary markers. The Central Warriors team arrived around 10:10 AM (for the 10 AM Game) and it took them a while to setup the field etc. The umpire docked Warriors 5 overs for the delay.
Central Warriors won the toss and chose to bat. They had a slow start with almost all runs coming from extras. Warriors lost their first wicket at a team score of 10 in the second over. With the Batsmen not able to connect and score quick runs, the going was always a bit slow. Warriors tried to accelerate however regular wickets and accurate bowling from the Colts meant they never got the push that was needed. With only 15 overs to bat, Warriors finished with a smallish looking total of 51 for the loss of 5 wickets. Only one batsman reached double figures and for a second game in a row (for Colts bowlers) extras were the top scorer.
Colts started the chase in earnest scoring at 5 an over throughout the innings despite losing Rakesh early. Vinay and Bharat played beautifully before Vinay ran himself out with just 11 runs needed for victory. Nirav and Bharat knocked off the runs and Redmond Colts won comfortably in 9.4 overs.
Rahul Arya from Redmond Colts was the Man of the Match for some accurate bowling that got him a stat line of 4-1-7-2.
